Freddy
Owners: Soph Morris-Sheppard
About Freddy
My name is Freddy and I’m a Maltese Terrier. I was born by the seaside in Brighton in August 2015 and adopted by my Human Mum, Pat, a few months later. I spent my puppy hood with Pat and my cockerpoo house mate, Stokie, in Poole. It was really glorious.
When I was three my life changed. Pat became unwell and she insisted it was best I go to another forever home. I wasn’t at all keen on the idea but luckily I fell in love!
She’s just wonderful. She’s a little older than me, a mixed breed lhasa apso/poodle called Cobweb. She’s my best friend. I adore her.
I often think about Pat and Stokie though…
I now live in London. Cobweb has taught me all sorts of hobbies including squirrel spotting (boring) Fox stalking (quite fun as long as they don’t chase me) and the cat watch (very scarey). Shes also very comforting when it thunders. She’s so brave. Some humans think we’re related but I think we’re soul mates.
My favourite thing is to cuddle up to Cobweb, the basket is “just” big enough if we squeeze up, or on the sofa or bed with my new human..if she’d budge up more. I do love a lap too.
My new word in London is “Coffee” which happens after our morning outing. When we hear the word “coffee” we know to rush into the kitchen for a chewy yummy delicacy. My human uses her paws and slurps hers from a bowl. Cobweb and I are very refined and can chew ours. We sometimes get more “coffee” after human has had her evening din-dins…

In memoriam: Lincoln
Owner: Veena Sharma
Our beloved Lincoln who we said goodbye to in October 2024, after he was too sick to carry on in this life but who gave us 15 years of unconditional love and light and was a wonderful model of love, peace and unconditional giving and has left a huge hole in our hearts and lives.
Puss – Our King of Cats!
2018 – 2021
You gave us so much
You made us smile
You had a funny character
with a cute little style.
You had three legs
and a crooked jaw
my heart burst
with love when you I saw.
You gave so much
you didn’t ask for a lot
but your paw prints
in my heart
Are now all that I got.
Patricia Ahern
Thank you Puss, for making our lives all the better for being in it, you brightened up our days over covid and we will be forever grateful, your friendly, mischievous, funny ways are still missed. You’ll never be forgotten.
Max my beautiful warrior, true and brave,
So much love you always gave.
To so many faces you brought a smile,
With your cute little hop, did you beguile.
Reaching for you now is like trying to catch moonlight,
But in my heart, I’ll always hold you tight.
You brought light to my darkest days,
Like the brightest of sun rays.
Loving you, goodbye was always the cost,
But nothing you love is ever lost.
Now you are part of everything,
As you have gone to get your wings.
Part of the earth, wind, sun and rain,
Never again will you be in pain.
Now my love it’s time to sleep well,
And stay by my side as an angel.

On 8th June 2025 I found Purdy the Parakeet in my local park
I found her worse for wear, at the base of an oak tree
In survival mode, with a limp that was plain to see
I made a decision there and then, that I would take her home
As in that park, it was clear ‘twas no longer safe for her to roam
and there and then the fun began, with this new thrilling plan
as I took her under my wing, her nurture back to thriving began
And with each passing day Purdy grew stronger and stronger
and her beautiful tail feather kept growing longer and longer.

I had so much fun with Purdy but eventually I made the heartbreaking decision to find her a bigger more spacious outdoor home in an aviary, because as she got stronger it was heart-breaking for me to see her cooped up in a cage and not having room to fly in my apartment. It was also heart-breaking to say goodbye, but for Purdy I made that decision, and with a heavy sad heart, I took her to her new home on 7th August with tear filled eyes.
All I can say is she enlightened my life
– extremely intelligent, loved classical music and would chirp along, she woke up with the dawn in a spritely mood, chirpy and singing
She stretched every day, and she inspired me to do the same, and she absolutely loved pomegranate seeds. She was independent and stubborn but every evening at dusk she went into a calm state, I would sing her sweet songs, and slept soundly all night.
If you are interested to know more about these beautiful intelligent birds I highly recommend watching the documentary Our Alien Animal: Parakeets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksW2E9a1Iu4
In the UK they are like bird refugees
But for sure I know Purdy brought joy to my life
And if the truth be known I still don’t know if she’s a she or if she’s male
But who cares, to me she’s PURDY a joy and a blessing
And my love for her I will always and forever be professing.

Purdy in her new home /outdoor Aviary in her first week there, with her homies. All I can hope is that with her landings got smoother with her bad leg, but she’s so clever I have no doubt they did.
I asked the owner of the aviary to send me more videos however Purdy is one of around 30 Parakeets there, so she said it was difficult for her to pick Purdy out, to take a video, which is fair enough. But I believe I would know my Purdy from a flock of Parakeets
There you have it the Fairytail of Purdy and Patricia
