THE SENGA GALLERY

A Beacon of Creativity in Kakuma Refugee Camp!

The success of our very first workshop and the extraordinary quality of artwork created by novice refugee artists inspired the launch of the Kakuma Art Project. From this spark, a bigger dream was born: to fundraise and build the first and only art gallery in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya.

That dream became reality with the creation of The Senga Gallery, a space dedicated to exhibit the art and stories of refugees who have faced unimaginable upheaval in their lives. The space also creates a sense of belonging, bringing together artists, for creative and purpose and friendship.

A Mission of Hope and Inspiration

The Senga Gallery stands as a beacon of hope for the Kakuma community. It sends a powerful message: you are not alone in your lived experience, and your story matters. Through art, refugees can share their voices, their struggles, and their resilience with the world.

The gallery also serves as a focal point for visiting officials, dignitaries, and global partners, highlighting the indomitable creativity of human beings, creativity that might otherwise remain hidden in the dust and noise of a desert refugee camp.
